Some say these emissions could rise from 0.8GtC in the year 2000 to as much as 2.2GtC by the beginning of the next century. Air conditioning emissions could reach dangerous levels by the year 2050 – as much as 500 million tons of CO2. Not only can this increase in energy usage lead to air conditioning breakdown, but the emissions could cause unhealthy and dangerous consequences for citizens all over the world.
